changes are happening at MuseNet!
I'll be posting more
info soon, but in the meantime... here are some quick directions and explanations
about MuseNet 2.0
SOME NEW FEATURES IN MUSENET 2.0
Gone are the days of needing to endlessly scroll through a sea of non-pertinent
data just to find what you're looking for. Now, MuseNet has solved that
Searchable Database! These are for - Members Listings, MuseNews
The other 'old fashioned' method of member updates, which was done through
email, and took a long time to process until it was finally published
on the web is also gone. Currently, we feature...
- 'Instant Live Updates' of the Members
listings and MuseNews!
HOW DO I SEARCH THE MUSENET YELLOW PAGES ?
Click on the navigation bar at the top of the screen - and choose either
the Member Search or the jumbo search (from the pull down menu). Then, in
order to search the database of MuseNet members, THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS
THAT YOU MUST FIRST USE THE PULL - DOWN MENU (on the search form) TO SELECT
A MASTER TALENT CATEGORY! All the other input fields, like searching by
city, state, zip, professional mem_mnstatus, and name etc.. are all optional.
Once you hit the submit button you will get a result. From there you can
use the top - back - next - and end : buttons to scroll through the list
of groups of 25 at a time. (Note: For veteran members, the JumboSearch has
the look and feel of the older MuseNet 1.0 site!)
WHY DO I HAVE TO LOGIN?
Many aspects of MuseNet are open to the public and members, and you do not
have to login to use them. However, for obvious reasons, certain areas of
MuseNet need to have security, the most important one being the individual
members update form ! Also , currently the ability to post messages on MuseNews
is reserved for members only.
For either one of these pages, you need to first login here on the
MuseNet Login page. You can
do this on the login page. If you attempt to update your listing, or post
a new message to MuseNet without first having logged in, MuseNet will take
you to the login page at that time, so you can first complete your login.
UP WITH THE PASSWORD?
For MuseNet 2.0 login access, you'll need
a brand new unique password that has been created for you. Don't
bother attempting to try to use your old one, because currently it
is out of date. If you are a pre-existing member and want to login,
there is an auto-generated e-mail service on the login page, that will
instantly e-mail you this new unique password.
USING BROWSER COOKIES
These days, the majority of Web sites insist on using " browser cookies
" to help keep track of its visitors. MuseNet also employs this technique.
A cookie is a tiny file that gets stored on your hard drive, that helps
you interact with the Web site. In the case of MuseNet, when you login,
a " login " cookie is written, and until it is erased by you, you'll never
have to login again on that computer. This can be quite a time saver!
So if you are experiencing problems, after typing in your e-mail and password
into the login page, and MuseNet still will not let you in, then there
is a good chance that you have not permitted browser cookies to be written.
The way to cure this problem, is to check your preferences in your browser,
and turn cookies " on ". Once done, you should be able to login without
